## Synopsis

Open Heart (2015) is a Canadian teen drama mystery created by Ramona Barckert and Chris Pozzebon, broadcast on TeenNick and YTV. Karis Cameron plays Dylan Blake, a sixteen-year-old whose father has disappeared and who falls in with the wrong crowd after an arrest. Her court-ordered community service places her at Open Heart Memorial, the hospital where her mother Jane Blake and sister London Blake work as doctors and where her grandparents hold board seats. Mena Massoud plays Jared Malik, one of the young people orbiting her new life. The engine is Dylan trying to make sense of her father's vanishing while navigating a family that watches her closely, and the hospital becomes a stage where private secrets and public reputations collide. The single season follows her mix of delinquency, service shifts and investigation through clinical corridors and tense family dinners. The tone is earnest and wistful, with a grounded, unglamorous look at hospital life seen from a teenager's outsider position. Fans of Degrassi: The Next Generation and Life with Derek will find resonance in its Canadian youth-focused drama, while viewers drawn to the family secrets of Pretty Little Liars will recognize the mystery pull.
