## Synopsis

The Red Band Society (2015-2017) is a German teen medical drama series created for VOX, adapted from the Catalan series Polseres vermelles. Set on a pediatric ward in a German hospital, it follows a group of teenage patients who live together while undergoing treatment. Leo Roland (Tim Oliver Schultz) and Jonas Till Neumann (Damian Hardung) anchor the group, with Emma (Luise Befort) and Anton Toni Vogel (Ivo Kortlang) drawing the others into friendships, rivalries and first romances. Their engine is simple and urgent: each young patient wants a life beyond the ward while the illness, the treatment and the hospital routine keep pulling them back. Episodes are built around medical setbacks, hospital politics and the small rebellions the teens stage against adults, with nurses and doctors such as Dr. Reusch (Julia Grafflage) providing structure and friction. The show spans three seasons of ten episodes each, forming one continuing serialized story. Its tone mixes warmth, humour and sorrow, with a hopeful, emotional register. Fans of Degrassi: The Next Generation, Skins and My So-Called Life will find resonance in its ensemble of young people navigating love, loss and friendship.
