## Synopsis

Outcast (2016-2017) is an American supernatural mystery series created by Robert Kirkman for Cinemax. Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit) has been plagued by possession since childhood, and as an adult he sets out on a spiritual journey to find answers. Alongside him, the Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister) guides the search, while Megan Holter (Wrenn Schmidt) and her family in a small town become entangled with his struggle. Across two seasons of ten episodes each, the story builds through investigations into possessed townspeople, tense confrontations, and gradually uncovered revelations about a demonic force. The series is an adult, dark drama with a brooding, eerie and somber register, drawing on the atmosphere of rural American communities and religious faith. Its tone is foreboding and dread-filled, and its approach is serialized, rewarding attentive viewing. Fans of Supernatural, The X-Files and The Exorcist will find resonance in its blend of mythology, faith and creeping supernatural menace. The show was canceled before its larger story could be resolved, leaving its central mystery open.
