## Synopsis

Empire (2014-2015) is a Brazilian telenovela created by Aguinaldo Silva for TV Globo. Alexandre Nero plays Comendador José Alfredo de Medeiros, a temperamental and cunning owner of a successful jewelry empire who rose from a humble past after heartbreak changed his fate. Lília Cabral plays his wife Maria Marta, Leandra Leal plays Cristina, Marina Ruy Barbosa plays Maria Ísis, and Marjorie Estiano and Drica Moraes play the Cora characters, all tangled in his household. The engine of the series is Alfredo's balancing act: he must manage a turbulent marriage, an extramarital love affair, and a bitter dispute among his children over who will inherit the business. Each stretch of the story is built from boardroom clashes, family dinners turned into battlegrounds, and romantic betrayals that keep escalating. The telenovela format delivers a single long-running serialized story over one season of 203 episodes, with each chapter ending on a fresh cliffhanger. Set in contemporary Brazil among wealthy jewelry dealers, the show foregrounds melodrama, ambition, and emotional volatility in a glossy, heightened register. Fans of Dynasty, Pantanal and A Força do Querer will find resonance in its sweeping family intrigue and romantic rivalries.
