## Synopsis

Verano azul (1981-1982) is a Spanish national-television coming of age family drama series created by Antonio Mercero for La 1. Across a single season of nineteen episodes, each running about fifty-four minutes, the story follows a band of youngsters between nine and seventeen during summer vacation in a small coastal town on the Costa del Sol. Antonio Ferrandis plays Chanquete, the beloved figure around whom the group revolves, while María Garralón plays Julia, Juanjo Artero plays Javi, and Pilar Torres plays Bea, all part of a wider ensemble including Gerardo Garrido as Quique and Miguel Joven as Tito. The engine of the show is simple and concrete: the kids' daily routines of beach outings, neighborhood games, rivalries, small misadventures and shared secrets, as they test friendships and begin to understand the adults around them. Each episode unfolds at an unhurried pace, built from ordinary summer incidents rather than cliffhangers. The tone is warm, sincere and wistful, with a nostalgic glow over sunlit streets and the sea. Its sensibility will resonate with viewers who love Stand by Me and The Wonder Years, and with anyone seeking a gentle family drama about childhood and friendship.
