## Synopsis

Shomin Sample (2015) is a Japanese animated comedy series produced by SILVER LINK. and broadcast on AT-X, adapted from a light novel and running a single 12-episode season of roughly 25 minutes each. Kimito Kagurazaka, an ordinary high school boy, is kidnapped by an elite young lady's academy and made to serve as a sample of the common people. Principal characters include Kimito Kagurazaka (Atsushi Tamaru), Arisugawa Reiko (Rika Tachibana) and Tenkuubashi Aika (Yu Serizawa), whose sheltered classmates have never shared a room with a male peer. Each episode is built from the awkward collisions of an outsider in a gilded campus, with the girls' curiosity and the boy's bewilderment generating most of the laughs. The tone is breezy, mildly risque and light, in the lineage of fans of Ouran High School Host Club and Shimoneta who want a fish out of water high school comedy with ecchi teasing. The setting is a present-day Japanese private girls' school, a contained world of manners and privilege. Its episodic structure rewards easy, undemanding viewing and a few laughs before bed.
