## Synopsis

Série Noire (2014-2015) is a Quebec French-language dark comedy crime series created by Jean-François Rivard and François Létourneau for ICI Radio-Canada Télé. Its protagonists are two writers, Denis Rondeau (François Létourneau) and Patrick Bouchard (Vincent-Guillaume Otis), whose crime show is critically savaged yet unexpectedly becomes a hit. Convinced their second season needs authentic criminal experience, they set out to gather real underworld material, and the comedy grows from the collision between their fictional crime world and the uncomfortable reality they stumble into. Charlène (Anne-Élisabeth Bossé) and Judith (Édith Cochrane) anchor the supporting cast around them. The series runs for two seasons across twenty-two episodes, with a self-contained, case-driven rhythm that stays focused on the writers' escapades. Its tone is wry, sardonic and irreverent, with a satirical eye on television ambition and the mythology of the crime genre. Fans of Atlanta and Stath Lets Flats will find a kindred sense of self-mocking showbiz absurdity, while those who enjoy Breaking Bad's flirtation with criminal underworlds will recognise its dark comic edge. The show was canceled after its second season.
