## Synopsis

Maigret (1991-2005) is a French-Belgian co-produced crime series created by Georges Simenon, adapted from his celebrated detective novels and aired on France 2 and Antenne 2. Bruno Cremer plays Jules Maigret, a pragmatic, reserved and refined police inspector who investigates murders in his singular, unhurried manner. Around him, Jean-Paul Bonnaire as Inspecteur Battisti and Pierre Diot as Inspecteur Christiani share the detective work, while Anne Bellec appears as Madame Maigret, grounding the inspector's private life. Each ninety-minute episode is a self-contained murder case that unfolds through conversations, observation of ordinary people, and quiet deduction rather than chase sequences or forensic spectacle. The engine is Maigret's patience: he listens, waits, and reads the motives behind each crime until the truth surfaces. The tone is measured and contemplative, with a melancholic, atmospheric feel that suits fans of Wallander, Columbo and Inspector Montalbano. Its single season of fifty-four episodes forms a long run of standalone mysteries, offering a classic, character-centred detective experience for viewers who enjoy whodunits told at a deliberate pace.
