## Synopsis

My Girl (2005-2006) is a South Korean television romantic comedy created by Hong Jeong-eun and Hong Mi-ran for SBS, a single-season k-drama spanning sixteen one-hour episodes. Lee Da-hae plays Joo Yoo Rin, a tour guide with a gift for lying who is hired by chaebol heir Seol Gong Chan (Lee Dong-wook) to act as his long-lost cousin in front of his family. Lee Joon-gi plays Seo Jeong Woo, another figure drawn into the household's tangled affairs. The engine of the show is the bind of keeping up a fabricated family tie while sharing a roof, where every dinner, household routine and family inspection tests the cover story and every shared moment pulls the two leads closer. Episodes turn on small deceptions, awkward family gatherings and the widening class divide between a commoner and a wealthy household. The tone blends breezy, witty romance with sincere, wistful moments and a steady undercurrent of drama. Fans of Boys Over Flowers and My Love from the Star will find resonance in its polished, glossy romcom texture and its chaebol milieu.
