## Synopsis

Full Sail (1977) is a Romanian national-television adventure series created by Mircea Mureșan and broadcast on TVR 1, adapted from Radu Tudoran's novel. Ion Besoiu plays the sailor Anton Lupan, a Romanian who sets out to find the schooner L'Esperance, which belonged to him and his closest friend, the Frenchman Pierre Vaillant, played by Ion Dichiseanu. The schooner has been lost to a pirate attack, and Anton's engine of the story is a stubborn hunt across open water for both the ship and the missing companion, a search that carries him far beyond the coast. Supporting roles from Ilarion Ciobanu, Sebastian Papaiani and Jean Constantin fill the crew and the ports of call, with Julieta Szönyi adding a further thread. The single season of twelve episodes is a self-contained run of sea adventure, each installment built around a new harbor, a new hazard and a new encounter on the way. The mood is wistful and adventurous, with a steady undercurrent of loyalty and longing as the voyage stretches toward the far southern tip of South America. Set in the nineteenth-century age of sail, it has the feel of a period adventure drawn from classic seafaring fiction. Fans of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Master and Commander will find resonance in its patient, ocean-bound storytelling.
