## Synopsis

The Asterisk War (2015-2016) is a Japanese anime action fantasy series produced by A-1 Pictures and aired on ANIMAX, adapted from a light novel. Its story follows scholarship student Ayato Amagiri, who transfers into the prestigious Seidoukan Academy in Rikka, a city of six rival academies nicknamed Asterisk. Ayato is driven by a determined wish to fight in the city's arena, and he is surrounded by a cast of elite Genestella students, including the proud Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, the cheerful Claudia Enfield, and the reserved Saya Sasamiya. The engine of the show is the Festa, a sanctioned battle tournament where students fight for academy standing, so episodes build around duels, training, and the shifting rivalries that come with ranking. The series runs two seasons totaling twenty-four episodes, following one continuing story with a clear arc across the tournaments. Set in a sprawling fictional city of post-meteor mana technology, it balances brisk action with lighter school comedy and fan-service moments that suit a teen audience. Its tone is energetic and earnest, with an emphasis on rivalry and friendship. Fans of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, High School DxD, and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei will find resonance in its academy duels and ensemble of gifted students.
