## Synopsis

Hostages (2013-2016) is an Israeli national-television political thriller series created by Omri Givon and Rotem Shamir for Channel Eser. Surgeon Dr. Yael Danon (Ayelet Zurer) is ambushed at her family home by four masked men who take her husband, children and household hostage and order her to kill the prime minister during a high profile operation the next morning. Adam Rubin (Jonah Lotan) leads the captors, and the principal cast includes Tomer Capone as Guy and Dar Zuzovsky as Noa Danon, with Shmil Ben Ari as Prime Minister Shmuel Netzer. The engine of the show is a family's desperate attempt to outmaneuver armed captors while every choice carries a lethal cost, with each episode tightening the screws through phone calls, surveillance and hidden agendas. Across two seasons and twenty-two episodes, the story stays a single continuing thriller set in contemporary Israel, moving between the claustrophobic family home and the corridors of state security. The mood is tense, paranoid and emotionally raw, with suspense driven by the family's fragile bonds. Fans of 24, Homeland and Tyrant will find resonance in its political stakes and relentless pressure.
