## Synopsis

Green Acres (1965-1971) is an American network sitcom created by Paul Henning and Jay Sommers for CBS. Starring Eddie Albert as Oliver Wendell Douglas and Eva Gabor as his glamorous wife Lisa, the series follows a New York lawyer who abandons Manhattan to become a farmer in a rural community. The engine of each half-hour episode is the clash between Oliver's stubborn devotion to agrarian life and Lisa's constant longing for city comforts, which produces a steady stream of fish out of water mishaps with local townsfolk and farm animals. Running six seasons and 170 episodes as a self-contained, case-free comedy, the show offers a breezy, warm and whimsical atmosphere in which characters routinely address the audience and comment on the production itself. Its surreal, playful register places it alongside Petticoat Junction and The Beverly Hillbillies, and fans of Mister Ed will recognize its absurdist charm. Set in a 1960s rural American farm town, the series remains a nostalgic, gentle comedy that rewards viewers looking for light, comforting humor with a distinctly eccentric edge.
