## Synopsis

The Path (2016-2018) is an American cult drama series created by Jessica Goldberg for Hulu. Set in the insular Meyerist Movement in upstate New York, it follows Eddie Lane (Aaron Paul), a conflicted husband whose faith is slowly fraying, alongside his devoted wife Sarah Lane (Michelle Monaghan) and the ambitious movement leader Calvin Roberts (Hugh Dancy). The engine of the show is the tension between private doubt and public loyalty: each episode tracks how the members of a closed community negotiate their marriages, their belief and their place in a hierarchy where questioning can cost everything. Cal's rising ambitions and the pressures of the movement's inner circle drive the story forward across three seasons of thirty-six episodes, told as one continuing narrative rather than standalone cases. The atmosphere is intimate and tense, with a brooding, claustrophobic mood and a steady undercurrent of unease. Its emotional register is quiet and morally complicated, closer to a character study of faith and power than to sensational exposé. Viewers who appreciate Big Love, Wild Wild Country and Escape at Dannemora will find similar resonance in its portrait of insular communities and fractured family loyalty.
