## Synopsis

Erased (2016) is a Japanese animated supernatural mystery miniseries adapted from the manga by Kei Sanbe, produced by A-1 Pictures and broadcast on Fuji Television. Satoru Fujinuma (voiced as an adult by Shinnosuke Mitsushima and as a child by Tao Tsuchiya) is a struggling manga artist who can turn back time to prevent deaths. After his mother Sachiko (Minami Takayama) is killed, he is hurled back into his elementary school years, just before the disappearance of his classmate Kayo. Across twelve episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, he must unravel a murder mystery that ties together a fractured home life and a community that has missed the warning signs. The engine is simple and urgent: each attempt to rescue someone reshapes the next one, and every near miss sharpens his suspicion. The tone blends melancholic time-loop dread with a quiet, wistful sense of childhood, and the animation keeps its unsettling moments restrained. Fans of Steins;Gate, Higurashi When They Cry and Mindhunter will find resonance in its blend of time-bending mystery, psychological tension and serial crime investigation. It is a compact, self-contained story told in a single arc, rewarding close attention to every clue.
