## Synopsis

La Querida del Centauro (2016-2017) is a US-produced Spanish-language telenovela crime drama created by Dario Vanegas and Lina Uribe for Telemundo. Ludwika Paleta plays Yolanda Acosta, a woman capable of bending law and order out of love for her daughter, who becomes the hook used to catch the Centauro. Humberto Zurita plays Benedictino Suárez, the feared drug trafficker known as El Centauro, and Michel Brown plays Gerardo Duarte, a figure caught in the tangle of loyalties around him. The engine of the series is the dangerous bargain Yolanda strikes: each move brings her closer to the most powerful narcotics boss in Mexico while the cost to her family keeps rising. Across two seasons and 141 episodes, the story unfolds as one continuing serialized arc in the long-form telenovela tradition, with melodramatic romance and betrayal woven through the criminal plotting. Its mood is intense and emotionally heightened, with dread and moral strain sitting beside the warmth of a mother's sacrifice. Set in contemporary Mexico against the backdrop of the drug war, it sits in the vein of Narcos: Mexico and Griselda for fans of cartel stories, with the serial romance of Teresa for those who love telenovela drama.
