## Synopsis

SKAM (2015-2017) is a Norwegian teen drama series created by Julie Andem for NRK, the national broadcaster, and it runs four seasons of short fifteen-minute episodes. Set among pupils at Hartvig Nissen upper secondary school in present-day Oslo, it follows the everyday troubles, scandals and friendships of its young cast. Each season hands the lens to a different teenager, so the story turns around Eva Kviig Mohn (Lisa Teige), Jonas Noah Vasquez (Marlon Langeland), Isak Valtersen (Tarjei Sandvik Moe), Noora Amalie Sætre (Josefine Frida Pettersen) and Sana Bakkoush (Iman Meskini), with William Magnusson (Thomas Hayes), Even Bech Næsheim (Henrik Holm) and Eskild Tryggvason (Carl Martin Eggesbø) orbiting them. The engine of each season is a young person's private anxiety colliding with the public life of a school: rumours, group chats, first crushes, faith and sexual identity. Episodes are built from ordinary days in corridors, kitchens and phone screens, and the drama comes from small humiliations and tender risks rather than grand events. The tone is intimate, sincere and often painfully raw, with moments of warmth and humour. Fans of Skins, Heartstopper and Degrassi: The Next Generation will find resonance in its close attention to adolescent emotional life, and the Norwegian production makes it a standout among European teen dramas.
