## Synopsis

Thicker Than Water (2014-2020) is a Swedish nordic noir family mystery series created by Henrik Jansson-Schweizer for SVT1 and Viaplay. Set on Sunnanö, a beautiful island in the Swedish archipelago, it follows three estranged siblings summoned home when their mother Anna-Lisa dies. Jonna, an actress, played by Aliette Opheim, and Lasse, an opportunistic schemer played by Björn Bengtsson, must share the family bed and breakfast with Oskar, played by Joel Spira, after her will demands they run it together for a year or forfeit their inheritance. The engine of the show is the uneasy domestic life of guests, old grievances and rekindled attractions, all tangled around a decades-old unsolved past and a dark secret buried in a troubling place. Across three seasons the story unfolds in a steady, brooding mix of family drama and thriller, with a cold, rain-soaked atmosphere, quiet menace and emotional reckoning. Viewers who love the bleak domestic tension of The Killing, the inherited-business pressure of Ozark, and the family-secret intrigue of Big Little Lies will find resonance here. The series remains a tense, character-driven puzzle about loyalty, guilt and the price of family.
