## Synopsis

Baron Noir (2016-2020) is a French political drama series created by Éric Benzekri and Jean-Baptiste Delafon for Canal+. Philippe Rickwaert (Kad Merad) is a politician whose career collapses when the presidential candidate Francis Laugier (Niels Arestrup) sacrifices him to save his own election. The engine of the show is Philippe's slow, methodical campaign of revenge, which he builds by forging an alliance with his closest advisor Amélie Dorendeu (Anna Mouglalis). Each season is made of meetings, leaks, back-room deals, and calculated countermoves inside the machinery of French party politics. Lubna Gourion, François Morel, and Hugo Becker fill out the principal cast as family members, rivals, and allies whose loyalties keep shifting. The run spans three seasons of eight episodes each, unfolding as one continuing story with a tense, cynical, dialogue-driven atmosphere. It is a Canal+ production rooted in contemporary French national politics. Fans of House of Cards and Borgen will find resonance in its patient, morally compromised scheming and its portrait of power as a game of nerve.
