## Synopsis

Atelier (2015) is a Japanese workplace drama created by Naoko Adachi for Netflix. Mirei Kiritani plays Mayuko Tokita, a young fabric enthusiast who lands a position at an upscale lingerie company in Japan and quickly finds she cannot manage the job alone. Her survival depends on the colleagues around her, including Mao Daichi as Mayumi Nanjo, Mayuko Kawakita as Yuri Kouno, and Ken Kaito as Jin Saruhashi, a demanding figure whose expectations push her to grow. Each of the thirteen episodes of this single season follows the practical rhythms of a design studio, with fabric sourcing, pattern cutting, client pressure, and deadlines shaping the story in concrete steps. The engine is simple: a talented outsider must prove herself in a competitive trade where confidence and craft are both currency. The tone is warm, observant, and gently humorous, with a strong sense of the pride that comes from skilled handwork. Fans of The Devil Wears Prada and Ugly Betty will find resonance in its blend of fashion-world pressure and underdog sympathy, along with the careful character work of Japanese corporate drama.
