## What critics say

Reviewers generally find the single season's cyberpunk atmosphere and android-collector partnership compelling, though its story and mystery payoff are seen as uneven.

## Synopsis

Dimension W is a Japanese seinen cyberpunk animated series adapted from a manga, told across a single season. Kyoma, a freelance collector and bounty hunter, carries a deep hatred for the energy coils he is paid to remove. He takes on missions to hunt illegal coils drawn from a hidden fourth plane known as dimension W. His uneasy partner is Mira, an android who believes she is human and clings to that identity even as her nature is questioned. Their work pits them against a powerful energy company that monopolizes coil production in a future where limitless energy has reshaped society and widened the gap between rich and poor. Each mission reads like a self-contained case, while a darker mystery gathers beneath the surface. The mood is cold, melancholic and tense, with moments of brutal violence and a steady undercurrent of loss. Gritty, neon-tinged visuals reinforce the bleak atmosphere. Viewers who enjoy moody, character-driven noir, android identity questions and corporate dystopia will find much to connect with, though the story asks for patience and tolerates little optimism.
