## Synopsis

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (2016) is a Japanese anime action horror series created for Fuji TV and produced by WIT STUDIO. Set in the fictional land of Hinomoto during an industrial revolution, it follows a group of survivors who fight hordes of undead creatures called Kabane from within powerful armored trains. Characters include Mumei (Sayaka Senbongi), Ikoma (Tasuku Hatanaka) and Takumi (Yuki Kaji), whose survival depends on the steam-powered fortresses rolling across a ruined country. The engine of the story is simple and urgent: each episode pits the travelers against relentless undead assaults while they seek safe passage and shelter, and the threat of infection hangs over every alliance. Presented as a single twelve-episode season of serialized action, the series builds a steady arc of battles and escapes. Its tone is grim, propulsive and visceral, combining samurai sensibility with steampunk machinery and zombie survival dread. Fans of Attack on Titan, Snowpiercer and The Walking Dead will find resonance in its blend of relentless monsters and confined, mobile fortresses.
