## Synopsis

And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online? (2016) is a Japanese anime comedy series produced by project No.9 and BARNUM STUDIO, airing on TOKYO MX and related Japanese networks as a single 12-episode season of roughly 25-minute episodes. Hideki Nishimura (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) is a high school gamer who, after a romantic confession from an online player turns out to be a boy, vows never to trust any female gamer again. That vow is tested when Ako Tamaki (Rina Hidaka), a beautiful loner who struggles to tell reality from her online world, confesses to him. Hideki and his guild friends, including Akane Segawa (Inori Minase), try to help the socially inept Ako find her footing offline. The engine of the show is awkward romance and comic misunderstanding, with episodes built around online game sessions, school life and the group's clumsy attempts at connection. Set in contemporary Japan, it is a light, breezy romantic comedy with a warm guild-friendship heart and a touch of ecchi humor. Fans of Sword Art Online, Oreimo and Log Horizon will find familiar territory in its gamer-centric romance.
