## Synopsis

VIP Cop (2016-2019) is a Russian tragicomic crime comedy series created by Ilya Kulikov for TNT. Alexander Petrov plays Grisha Izmailov, a handsome, rich, cynical policeman in his early thirties who has been assigned to keep order in Rublyovka, the most exclusive district of Moscow. Grisha is forced to investigate cases involving the district's wealthy residents, and he often exceeds his authority to resolve them. His world includes his blunt boss Vladimir Sergeevich Yakovlev (Sergey Burunov), who sees Grisha as a punishment for his sins, his clumsy best friend Igor Mukhich (Roman Popov), and his younger sister Nika, whom he constantly rescues from trouble. Romance complicates everything: Grisha easily charms women, yet cannot win the affection of Alena (Tatiana Babenkova). The show runs for five seasons with forty episodes, each built around a self-contained case that pulls the detective into the excesses of wealth, money and drugs. Its tone mixes deadpan black humor with sharp social satire and moments of melancholy about loneliness. Set in contemporary Moscow, it offers a cynical, irreverent look at Russian privilege. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Hawaii Five-0 will find resonance in its blend of crime procedure and dark comedy.
