## Synopsis

Stromberg (2004-2012) is a German mockumentary workplace comedy created by Ralf Husmann and Moritz Netenjakob for ProSieben, produced by Brainpool. Christoph Maria Herbst plays Bernd Stromberg, the vain and oblivious branch manager of a regional insurance office whose ambitions far exceed his abilities. Around him orbit Oliver Wnuk as the ingratiating Ulf Steinke, Bjarne Mädel as the dry Ernie Heisterkamp, and Diana Staehly as the office worker Tanja Seifert, whose quiet exasperation anchors the ensemble. The engine of the series is Stromberg's relentless pursuit of status, promotion and approval, set against petty rivalries, awkward meetings, office parties and failed schemes that keep sabotaging him. Each episode of this five-season show is built from camera-facing confessionals and documentary-style observation of the staff, so the comedy grows from embarrassment and small humiliations rather than from plot. The tone is sardonic, cringe-prone and satirical, with a warm undercurrent beneath the mockery. Set in a contemporary German office, it will appeal to viewers who enjoy the awkward corporate humor of The Office and the self-deluded managers of Alan Partridge-style comedy.
