## Synopsis

My 600-lb Life (2012-present) is a American reality docuseries broadcast on TLC, following real people who weigh more than 600 pounds as they prepare for high-risk gastric bypass surgery. Across thirteen seasons and 153 episodes of roughly forty-three minutes each, the show tracks each featured person through the stages of a medical journey: struggling with lifelong eating habits, meeting the strict pre-surgery requirements set by the bariatric physician Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, and confronting the family strain and self-doubt that have shaped their weight. The engine of every episode is the choice to undergo a dangerous operation and the question of whether a body can be reclaimed. Scenes move between home interiors, hospital consultations, and candid confessional interviews, and the tone is intimate, sober, and often raw, with moments of hope and setback. Viewers searching for an emotional medical documentary about weight loss surgery, transformation stories, or an unflinching look at obesity and food addiction will find a close kin in the vein of Botched and The Biggest Loser, both built on human stakes and visible change. Its reality format makes each season a self-contained set of journeys within a continuing series.
