## Synopsis

Hayat Şarkısı (2016-2017) is a Turkish melodrama series created by Jung Ha-yeon and Mahinur Ergun for Kanal D. Two young people, Melek (Ecem Özkaya) and Kerim (Birkan Sokullu), are betrothed in childhood by their fathers, and the story follows what happens to that promise as Kerim's family grows wealthy while Melek's family keeps struggling. Hülya (Burcu Biricik), Melek's sister, is the restless engine of the show: determined to escape her poor life, she will do whatever it takes to be accepted into Kerim's household. Principal characters around them include Bayram Cevher (Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan), Hüseyin Cevher (Tayanç Ayaydın) and Süheyla Cevher (Seray Gözler), whose family pride and money shape each turn. The series runs across two seasons and 57 episodes of roughly two hours each, following one continuing story rather than standalone cases. Its emotional register is sentimental and tender, with comic friction and rivalry between the households, set in a contemporary Turkish city milieu where class gaps define everyday life. Viewers who love the sweeping family melodrama of Kara Sevda and the class-driven romance of Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? will find a familiar pull here, a classic Turkish soap built on love, ambition and a promise that refuses to stay simple.
