## Synopsis

Flowers (2016-2018) is a British dark comedy series created by Will Sharpe for Channel 4. Olivia Colman plays Deborah Flowers and Julian Barratt plays Maurice Flowers, a estranged couple who have not yet divorced and remain under one roof with their maladjusted twin children, Amy (Sophia Di Martino) and Donald (Daniel Rigby), and Maurice's batty mother. Will Sharpe also appears as Shun, a fellow household figure in the orbit of the family. The engine of the show is the strain of living together after the marriage has effectively ended: every short episode of roughly twenty-five minutes is built from small domestic collisions, unspoken resentments, and the absurd routines of a household that cannot quite let go. The series runs for two seasons of six episodes each, a compact, self-contained comic study rather than a long saga. Set in contemporary England, it unfolds in ordinary rooms that feel increasingly cramped as the characters circle one another. Its tone is wry, uncomfortable and tender, with a deadpan register that finds warmth beneath cruelty and dysfunction. Fans of The Royle Family, Friday Night Dinner and Motherland will find resonance in its blend of bleak humor, awkward family intimacy and eccentric characters.
