## Synopsis

Thorn Castle (Tüskevár, 1967) is a Hungarian family adventure series created by Tamas Fejer for Magyar Televízió. Two urban boys, Tutajos (Zoltán Seregi) and Bütyök (Tibor Barabás), spend a summer at the romantic Kis-Balaton wetlands under the watch of an old field keeper, Uncle István (Ferenc Zenthe). Their days are built from fishing, boating, swamp exploration and encounters with snakes, eagles and crabs, while their city habits slowly give way to a deep attachment to the marsh and its wildlife. The engine of the story is quiet transformation rather than plot: each episode follows a small practical task or outing that gradually reorders what the boys value. The series is a single eight-episode season, a gentle, unhurried run with a contemplative, wistful and warm register. Its rural Hungarian lakeside setting, rendered in the atmosphere of 1960s Hungary, gives it a tender sense of place. Viewers who enjoy the naturalistic coming-of-age warmth of Heidi and the outdoor friendship of Huckleberry Finn will find resonance here. Based on a novel, the show carries a literary sensibility and a family-friendly, reflective tone throughout.
