## Synopsis

W (2016) is a South Korean fantasy thriller series created by Song Jae-jung for MBC, a single-season limited series of sixteen episodes. Surgical resident Oh Yeon-joo (Han Hyo-joo) is pulled into the webtoon world created by her father, where she becomes entangled in a murder mystery involving the story's hero, Kang Cheol (Lee Jong-suk). Her search for the truth runs alongside a romance built on lovers separated between two realities, with the real and fictional worlds bleeding into one another. Supporting roles include Eugene Jung as Yoon So-hee and Lee Tae-hwan as Seo Do-yoon. The tone blends suspense, romantic longing and fantasy wonder, with fight sequences and a darker murder-mystery undercurrent. Set in modern Korea and inside a fictional webtoon realm, the series sits in the tradition of Korean melodrama with a genre-bending parallel world premise. Fans of Alice in Borderland, Hwayugi and Hospital Playlist will find resonance in its blend of fantasy, romance and thriller pacing.
