## Synopsis

Gangsta. (2015) is a Japanese animated crime series produced by Manglobe and broadcast in the United States on ABC TV. Set in the crime-ridden, mafia-governed city of Ergastulum, it follows two freelance handymen known as Benriya, Worick (voiced by Junichi Suwabe) and Nicolas (voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda), who will take any dirty job from police or mafia for the right price. Their roster grows when Alex (voiced by Mamiko Noto), a former prostitute, becomes fascinated by the team's secrets, especially the mysterious abilities of Nicolas. The engine of the series is the tension between paid violence and loyalty: each episode is built around a contract that drags the team deeper into the rival syndicates and corrupt law enforcement that run the city. Fans of Cowboy Bebop and Ergo Proxy will find resonance in its gritty underworld atmosphere, morally compromised fixers and stylized bloodshed. Across a single twelve-episode season the tone is bleak, violent and melancholic, with sharp action sequences cutting against quieter moments of unease. Its shape is that of a compact serialized crime story, and its mood sits firmly in adult dystopian anime noir.
