## Synopsis

The Windsors (2016-2020) is a British comedy soap opera satire created by George Jeffrie and Bert Tyler-Moore for Channel 4. Harry Enfield plays Prince Charles, with Haydn Gwynne as Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Hugh Skinner as Prince William, all reimagined as bickering members of a family whose private rivalries and petty scheming play out like a soap opera. Each thirty-minute episode builds its comedy from the gap between royal ceremony and ordinary domestic squabbling, with Morgana Robinson's Pippa, Richard Goulding's Prince Harry and Katy Wix's Fergie adding further friction. The engine is a constant stream of intrigue over status, marriage and public image, with the family's dignity repeatedly undercut by vanity and scandal. Across three seasons and eighteen episodes, the show stays sharp, bawdy and irreverent, with a mocking tone toward inherited privilege. Its satirical bite and soap structure invite comparison with Spitting Image and Absolutely Fabulous, and fans of The Thick of It will recognise the same appetite for skewering powerful people. Set in contemporary Britain, it offers a raucous, unsparing look at a monarchy in the public eye.
