## Synopsis

The Mick (2017-2018) is a US network sitcom created by Dave Chernin and John Chernin for FOX. Kaitlin Olson plays Mackenzie "Mickey" Murphy, a hard-living, cigarette-smoking aunt who leaves her unsteady life behind to move into affluent Greenwich, Connecticut, where she becomes guardian to the spoiled children of her wealthy sister, who has fled the country to avoid a federal indictment. Sofia Black-D'Elia and Thomas Barbusca play the Pemberton children, whose privileged habits collide with Mickey's blunt, unsentimental approach to child-rearing. Alongside them, Jack Stanton and Carla Jimenez fill out the household, which grows through the friction of mismatched values and class divides. Each twenty-three-minute episode is built around everyday domestic mishaps, petty rivalries and small-scale schemes, with the ongoing engine being Mickey's attempt to impose order on a household that resists her at every turn. The tone is brash, profane and irreverent, with a warmer undercurrent of family loyalty beneath the crude jokes. Across two seasons and thirty-seven episodes, the show offers a broad, fast-paced comedy in the spirit of Roseanne and Dharma & Greg, with a rougher edge than most family sitcoms.
