## Synopsis

The Good Place (2016-2020) is an American network fantasy comedy created by Michael Schur for NBC. Kristen Bell plays Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary and selfish woman who finds herself mistakenly admitted to the afterlife's paradise, where the architect Michael (Ted Danson) and the afterlife guide Janet (D'Arcy Carden) oversee a community of the recently deceased. Eleanor's engine is simple and urgent: she must hide her fraud from the others while trying to become a genuinely better person, with the help of ethics professor Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper), a neurotic moral philosopher who becomes her reluctant tutor. Tahani Al-Jamil (Jameela Jamil) and Jason Mendoza (Manny Jacinto) round out the group, and each episode turns on a bright, quick-paced collision of sharp jokes and ethical dilemmas. The show is a four-season serialized sitcom in which the story keeps advancing across episodes, moving from the surface gags of a cozy neighborhood into bigger questions about what makes a person good. The tone is breezy and warm, with sincere philosophical curiosity beneath the absurdity. Fans of Community, Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me will find a kindred mix of quirky ensemble comedy and gentle existential play.
