## Synopsis

Profit (1996-2002) is a American corporate thriller series created by John McNamara and David Greenwalt for FOX. Jim Profit (Adrian Pasdar) is an ambitious employee at a multinational company who will use bribery, blackmail, intimidation, extortion and even murder to climb higher. Charles Gracen, the company president, sees him as a golden boy, while Joanne Meltzer (Lisa Zane), the company's security chief, senses something sinister behind his eyes. Supporting players include Gail Koner (Lisa Darr), Pete Gracen (Jack Gwaltney) and Nora Gracen (Allison Hossack), whose relationships with Profit tangle the office politics further. The engine of the show is the gap between Profit's public charm and his private scheming, as each episode tests how long he can keep his superiors blind. Told in a single eight-episode season of forty-two minute episodes, it is a dark, cynical portrait of ambition in corporate America. The tone is sly and unsettling, with Profit addressing viewers directly as he narrates his manipulations. Fans of Dexter, Succession and House of Cards will find resonance in its study of a charming predator inside a powerful institution.
