## Synopsis

Quarry (2016) is an American crime thriller series created by Michael D. Fuller and Graham Gordy for Cinemax, a one-season limited run of eight hour-long episodes. Logan Marshall-Green plays Mac Conway, a Marine who returns to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 to find his loved ones cold and the public hostile toward him. Jodi Balfour plays Joni, and Peter Mullan plays the enigmatic figure known as The Broker, both pulling Conway further into the work that makes his new life possible. Each episode weaves the search for stability with contract killings and money that trail along the Mississippi River, through a network of corruption that keeps tightening around him. The engine is simple: a damaged man wants a way back to normal, but every job he accepts costs him more of what remains of his conscience. The show is gritty, dark and violent, with a grimy seventies palette and a moody, rain-soaked Southern atmosphere. Viewers who enjoyed the brooding male-led intensity of True Detective and the moral compromise of Banshee will find a kindred pulse here. Its unfinished story gives it a cancelled-too-soon feel that lingers after the final episode.
