## Synopsis

Gypsy (2017) is an American psychological drama series created by Lisa Rubin for Netflix. Naomi Watts plays Jean Holloway, a therapist whose work with clients slowly seeps into her private life as she develops dangerous and intimate relationships with the people in her patients' lives. Billy Crudup plays Michael Holloway, her husband, while Sophie Cookson, Karl Glusman and Lucy Boynton appear among the principal cast. The engine of the series is Jean's double life: she listens to confidential confessions in a tidy consulting room by day and drifts into secret entanglements that threaten the careful order she has built. Each episode unfolds through therapy sessions, personal crises and charged encounters in a polished New York setting. The show runs for a single season of ten episodes, a limited and contained run that was canceled before its story was complete. Its tone is sultry, cool and unsettling, with a steady undercurrent of erotic tension and moral unease. Viewers who enjoyed the intimate observation of In Treatment, the tangled domestic secrets of The Affair, or the unraveling double life of Mr. Robot may find a similar appeal in its slow, probing character study, though its tone is more overtly seductive than those.
