## Synopsis

Mummies Alive! (1997) is a Canadian-American animated action adventure comedy series created by Seth Kearsley and produced by DiC. Four Egyptian warriors are brought back to life to guard the reborn spirit of a young pharaoh, and the engine of each episode is their clumsy attempt to fit into a modern world that makes little sense to them. Voiced by a cast led by Bill Switzer as Pressley, Dale Wilson as Ja-Kai, Scott McNeil as Rath and Cree Summer as Nefertina, the show plays its premise for lighthearted fish-out-of-time comedy. Each half-hour episode builds around a new modern mishap, a museum setting and mythic threats that the warriors meet with swordplay and bravado. The series runs a single season of forty-two episodes, a self-contained family cartoon that treats Egyptian mythology as a playful adventure rather than a solemn history. Its tone is breezy, goofy and warm, with a steady sense of comic momentum. Fans of Jonny Quest, Gargoyles and Sabrina: The Animated Series will find a similar mix of mythic adventure and kid-friendly humor.
