## Synopsis

Sweetness & Lightning (2016) is a Japanese animated slice of life series produced by TMS Entertainment and broadcast on TOKYO MX. Single father and high school teacher Kohei Inuzuka (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) lives with his young daughter Tsumugi (voiced by Rina Endou). A chance encounter draws his student Kotori Iida (voiced by Saori Hayami) into their lives, and the three begin meeting to cook meals together. None of them can cook well, so each episode is built around a dish, the trial and error of preparing it, and the small domestic lessons that come with sharing a table. The series runs for a single season of twelve episodes and follows one continuing story rather than isolated cases. Its tone is gentle, warm, and cozy, with a lightly comic edge that keeps the kitchen mishaps lively. Food is rendered with appetite and care, making it a comforting watch. Fans of Yakitate!! Japan and Food Wars! will find resonance in its food focus, and viewers drawn to tender family dramedies will connect with its portrait of a father and daughter growing closer to others.
