## Synopsis

One of Us (2016) is a British four-episode limited series created by Harry Williams and Jack Williams for BBC One. Set in isolated rural Scotland, it follows two neighbouring families, the Elliots and the Douglases, after a horrific double murder shatters their lives. Anna Elliot (Georgina Campbell) and Rob Elliot (Joe Dempsie) sit at the centre of a household strained by grief and suspicion, while Moira Douglas (Julie Graham) and Bill Douglas (John Lynch) carry their own wounds across the hedge line. Rather than chasing the investigation, the drama lingers on the fallout for the grieving relatives, the quiet lies told to protect loved ones, and the dark consequences that threaten to pull both families apart. Each hour builds a tight, claustrophobic dread through small domestic moments and strained conversations, with Adrian Edmondson and Juliet Stevenson adding weight as older family figures. Fans of Broadchurch and The Missing will find resonance in its bleak small community secrets and its patient, character-driven unease. The tone stays heavy and intimate, with flashes of brutal violence sitting against long stretches of silence and grief.
