## Synopsis

The Deep (2015-present) is a Canadian and Australian animated family adventure series created by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer. The Nekton family, led by Antaeus Nekton (voiced by Vincent Tong) and Fontaine Nekton (voiced by Ashleigh Ball), lives aboard the state-of-the-art submarine Aronnax and roams the planet's uncharted oceans. Their children Will Nekton (Michael Dobson) and Kaiko Nekton (Kathleen Barr) join each expedition, while Nereus (Lee Tockar) adds a steady presence on the crew. Each episode builds around a fresh underwater mystery, from unfamiliar creatures to hidden ocean locations, with the family investigating, cooperating and explaining what they find. The show runs across four seasons and sixty-five episodes of short, bright, self-contained adventures. Its tone is warm, curious and gently wondrous, with a comforting sense of teamwork and discovery. Viewers who enjoy Octonauts and other gentle animated expedition shows will find the same blend of marine science and family adventure here, suited to young viewers and the adults who watch alongside them.
