## Synopsis

Himouto! Umaru-chan is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy from Doga Kobo, running two seasons of twelve episodes each. Umaru Doma is a flawless high school student whose public poise vanishes the moment she passes through her front door, where she trades her uniform for a hamster hoodie and becomes a lazy, snack-munching otaku. Her patient older brother Taihei is left to handle the housework and put up with her. The engine of the show is the daily friction of two siblings sharing a small apartment, with the laughs coming from the gap between Umaru's outside reputation and her home habits. Episodes are standalone vignettes that drift through ordinary school life, friendships with Nana and Kirie, and a playful rivalry with a self-proclaimed rival. Its humor is gentle and gag-driven, the tone breezy and warm rather than hard-edged, and it rewards viewers who enjoy cozy, low-stakes comedy about family and friendship. Some stretches feel repetitive, and the second season is less sharp than the first, yet the lead's double life stays charming throughout, making it an easy, comforting watch for fans of Nichijou and Working!! who want something light and affectionate.
