## Synopsis

High Maintenance (2016-2020) is an American indie comedy anthology-style series created by Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair for HBO. Ben Sinclair plays the nameless marijuana deliveryman known only as The Guy, a bike-riding courier who moves through the boroughs of New York City dropping off product to a rotating cast of eccentric clients. Each episode follows a different client, such as Kathryn Boswell's Autumn, whose small daily crises and quirks take center stage while The Guy observes, listens, and occasionally intervenes. The engine is simple: a route, a handful of stops, and whatever awkward, funny, or tender encounter each stop brings. The show runs for four seasons and about thirty-four episodes of roughly half an hour each, with a loose serial thread across the seasons rather than a single plot. Its tone is meditative, understated, and witty, with a warm, amused gaze on urban loneliness, connection, and the small pleasures of getting high on an ordinary afternoon. Its look is naturalistic and observational, and its humor is quiet rather than punchy. Fans of Easy, Atlanta, and Louie will find resonance in its sketch-like portraits of city life.
