## Synopsis

I Love Dick (2016-2017) is an American prestige comedy-drama series created by Griffin Dunne, Roberta Colindrez, Kevin Bacon and Kathryn Hahn for Prime Video. Adapted from the feminist novel by Chris Kraus, it follows Chris (Kathryn Hahn), a frustrated writer whose marriage to Sylvere (Griffin Dunne), a stalled critic, begins to crack when they become fixated on a magnetic visiting professor, Dick (Kevin Bacon). Chris's obsession turns into a series of letters and confessions that she and Sylvere trade, and the fixation pulls the couple into the orbit of Devon (Roberta Colindrez), a younger artist who sees the situation clearly. Across eight short episodes the story unfolds in Rashomon-style shifts of point of view, so the same events are re-examined through different minds. Set in the isolated, colorful academic and art community of Marfa, Texas, the show moves with a sharp, sardonic and sexually frank tone, mixing humiliation, wit and tenderness. Its engine is less plot than desire: a woman trying to claim her voice while her marriage and her standing among artists drift apart. Its atmosphere is restless and bruisingly funny, a single-season limited series for viewers who admire the mordant self-scrutiny of Girls, Fleabag and Enlightened.
