## Synopsis

Despertar Contigo (2016-2017) is a Mexican telenovela series created by Pedro Damián for Las Estrellas and Univision. Its central pairing is Maia (Ela Velden), the daughter of a flower-industry tycoon, and Pablo (Daniel Arenas), a member of the bodyguard squad protecting Antonia (Aura Cristina Geithner), her father Othón's fiercest rival. Their first meeting at a flower show sparks an attraction that the two elders immediately begin to exploit. Antonia spreads a deliberate lie about Pablo's standing to manipulate Maia, while Othón, a self-made man obsessed with class, wants his daughter to marry someone wealthy. The engine of the story is the couple's struggle to be together against a steady stream of deceptions, rival suitors, and family pressure, with each episode built from scheming, misunderstandings, and confrontations among the principal cast, including Enoc Leaño and Sara Corrales in supporting roles. Running as one 122-episode season of roughly 45 minutes each, the series unfolds as a single continuing storyline rather than standalone cases. The tone is melodramatic and sentimental, with comic flourishes and a warm, romantic atmosphere. Set in contemporary Mexico among the flower-growing business world, it works for viewers who enjoy the emotional sweep of the telenovela tradition, with echoes of Juana Inés, La Madrastra and Rubí for fans of Latin American romantic melodrama.
