## Synopsis

Sleeper Hit (2016) is a Japanese workplace drama and comedy from TBS, told across a single ten-episode season of roughly fifty minutes each. Haru Kuroki plays Kokoro Kurosawa, a former Olympic judo hopeful whose athletic ambitions end with an injury and who lands at the weekly manga magazine Vibes. Joe Odagiri and Kentaro Sakaguchi anchor the editorial team as Kokoro learns the craft, hunts for hit series, and coaxes stories out of temperamental artists while print sales slide as ebooks reshape the trade. Set in contemporary Tokyo, the series blends breezy office comedy with a reflective undercurrent about ambition, sacrifice, and what it costs to chase a dream. Its tone is warm and energetic, with sincere respect for the labor behind manga. Fans of creative-industry stories and underdog career arcs will find its portrait of competition and passion resonant.
