## Synopsis

Above Justice (2016) is a Brazilian national-television crime drama miniseries created by Manuela Dias for TV Globo and Globoplay. Told across a single twenty-episode season, it follows seemingly independent characters whose storylines gradually intertwine, including Elisa de Almeida (Débora Bloch), Fátima Libéria do Nascimento (Adriana Esteves), Rose Silva dos Santos (Jéssica Ellen) and Maurício Pereira de Oliveira (Cauã Reymond). Each thread is driven by a personal grievance and a wish for retribution, so the engine of the show is the question of what a wronged person will do when formal institutions feel out of reach. Episodes move between households, workplaces and city streets, building a web of consequences in which every character's moral position shifts. The contemporary Brazilian setting is grounded and everyday, with a realistic texture that gives the drama its weight. The tone is serious and emotionally charged, touching and morally complicated rather than tidy. Fans of Crash, Babel and Black Mirror's sharper anthology-style moral puzzles will find resonance in its interlocking plots and its questions about revenge and fairness.
