## Synopsis

Moomin (1990-1992) is a Japanese anime adaptation of Tove Jansson's Moomin stories, produced for TV Tokyo and created with Finnish partners including YLE. Young Moomintroll (voiced by Minami Takayama) and his family, including Moominpappa (Akio Otsuka) and Moominmamma (Ikuko Tani), live in the remote and mysterious Moominvalley, where they meet a wandering cast of friends. Snufkin (Takehito Koyasu) drifts through on his own terms, while the mischievous Little My (Rei Sakuma) and the anxious Sniff (Ryusei Nakao) stir up small trouble. Across 104 episodes over two seasons, the series is episodic: each story turns on everyday mishaps and playful excursions that drift between mundane and magical, with a gentle sense of wonder woven into the ordinary. The tone is soothing and warm, with a healing, iyashikei calm and a quiet affection for nature and friendship. Its storybook charm and pastel-leaning gentleness make it a comforting pick for families and young viewers. Fans of Adventure Time, The Mr. Men Show and Wind in the Willows will find a similar sweetness in its cozy, whimsical world.
