## Synopsis

Tash ma Tash (1993-2023) is a Saudi Arabian national-television sketch comedy series created by Nasser Al Qasabi and Abdullah Al Sadhan for Al Saudiya and MBC Shahid. Its two lead performers, Nasser Al-Qasabi and Abdullah Al-Sadhan, anchor a rotating set of characters and scenarios, while Mohammed Aleissa and a changing roster of guest players appear across its episodes. Each self-contained sketch takes a fresh situation drawn from contemporary Saudi life and turns it into a comic study of bureaucracy, religious extremism, marriage, gender relations and everyday corruption. The engine is simple and endlessly renewable: an ordinary citizen collides with an absurd institution or an inflexible social expectation, and the sketch plays out the friction until the satire lands. Spread across nineteen seasons and more than four hundred episodes, the show works as an anthology rather than a continuing plot, so viewers can dip in at any point. Its tone is sardonic yet warm, with a wry, knowing affection for its subjects. A Ramadan institution across generations, it sits in the tradition of Arab sketch comedy and carries the lineage of satirical British and Python-style sketch shows. Fans of Monty Python's Flying Circus, Little Britain and Bab Al Hara will find resonance in its blend of character-driven humour and social observation.
