## Synopsis

One Mississippi (2016-2017) is a US semi-autobiographical dark comedy series created by Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody for Prime Video. Tig Notaro stars as a stand-up comic who returns to her hometown after the sudden death of her mother, a loss that lands on top of her own declining health. Rya Kihlstedt plays Caroline, her clingy girlfriend, whose needs make Tig's efforts to steady herself harder, while John Rothman plays Bill, the family member left to navigate the aftermath with her. Noah Harpster, Stephanie Allynne and Casey Wilson fill out a dysfunctional family and social circle that keeps pressing on Tig's raw nerves. Each half-hour episode is built from small domestic frictions, awkward conversations and sharp deadpan asides, so the comedy comes from refusing to dress up grief and illness. The show runs for two seasons of twelve episodes in total and follows one continuing story rather than standalone cases. Its tone is wry, intimate and melancholic, with a warm streak of queer identity and family friction throughout. Fans of Better Things, Fleabag and Dead to Me will find resonance in its blend of bleak humor and raw personal confession.
